Professional Expense Reimbursement (PER) - Upcoming Deadline
Regular Full-Time Faculty:
The base amount of the PER for 2008 and 2009 is $900.00 (plus any
carryforward from 2007). By election, in November, 2007 for 2008 and
November, 2008 for 2009, additional flexible credits up to $400.00
can be allocated to the PER in $100.00 increments. If you did not
make an election, $200.00 in flexible credits were automatically
allocated to your PER. To verify your individual allocation of
flexible credits to your PER, sign on to
myHumanResources and select "Benefits".
Part-Time Teaching Faculty
(including Graduate Students): The base amount of the PER for
2008 and 2009 is $200 for the first full year course (or after 2
half courses) taught plus $67 for each additional half course to a
maximum of $602 per calendar year plus any carryforward from 2007.
Your deadline to submit expenses for 2008 is
March 31, 2009. You are welcome to carryforward any unspent
funds to 2009, but not beyond December 31, 2009. However, receipts
for the 2009 allocation may be dated up to March 31, 2010. Please
submit your completed expense claim form to
Karin Feulgen.
CEA 2009 Conference - Applied Econometrics Course & CWEN
Sessions
The Canadian Economic Association and the Canadian Labour Market and
Skills Researcher Network (CLSRN) are co-sponsoring a short
applied
econometrics course
that will take place at the University of Toronto from Tuesday May
26 to lunch on Thursday May 28. The CEA meetings begin on May 29,
also at the University of Toronto.
The course will focus on panel data techniques for applied
researchers. It will be suitable for 2nd year and advanced graduate
students, and also faculty members who do empirical analysis.
The Canadian
Women Economists Network Sessions (CWEN) at the 2009 Annual
Meeting of the CEA are planned for the morning of Friday, May 29, to
be followed by the annual CWEN luncheon. This year, CWEN will also
organize a panel discussion on the status of women economists across
different countries. The deadline for submission of abstracts is
February 20, 2009 and must be submitted
online. Please
note:
under the "Comments" section of the form, submitters MUST make
reference to CWEN or the paper will be considered for other
sessions.

The Innovation Policy and the Economy Group of the NBER - Call
for Proposals
The Innovation
Policy and the Economy (IPE) Group at the National Bureau of
Economic Research seeks to foster research by economists and other
social scientists on the interactions between public policy and the
innovation process. The IPE Group of the NBER is able to make
grants to support research into innovation policy and
entrepreneurship and is seeking proposals for 2 grants of $20,000
each and a post-doctoral fellowship of $60,000, for the academic
year of 2009-10. The deadline for submission of proposals is
April 1, 2009.
NBER Entrepreneurship Initiative - Travel Grants for 2009
The NBER Working Group on Entrepreneurship meets twice each year to
present and discuss research in the field and are seeking scholars at the
graduate and pre-doctoral level who are interested in the growing field of
entrepreneurship research. The
Travel
Grants (up to a total of $1,000) will pay the travel expenses of
successful candidates to attend the two meetings held at the NBER's offices in Cambridge, MA. The
summer 2009 meeting date is July 21, 2009. The winter meeting date will be announced later. The deadline for applications is
April 1, 2009.

Conference -
Call for Participants
The Business & Economics Society International
2009 Hawaii-USA Conference will be held in
Kona, Hawaii, July 15-19 at the Sheraton Hotel. The conference
welcomes academics (business/economics professors and
administrators), as well as corporation/government executives and
economists. The abstract/paper submission and registration deadline
is
March 15, 2009. Final paper submission
deadline is April 30, 2009.
**All funding applications or proposals by UWO researchers must be
