Professor of the Year Award

Based on the nominations received from students who are enrolled in any Economics module, including Honors Specialization, Economics Major, Financial Economics Major, Specialization, or Minor, the Department of Economics is pleased to announce that Des McKeon is the 2008-09 Professor of the Year. Congratulations Des!

Graduate Awards

Peter Streufert was nominated by the Graduate Students as "Graduate Professor of the Year". He will be presented with a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Peter!

 

Lee Ferchoff was selected as "Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year". He will be awarded a prize of $200 as well as receive a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Lee!
 


Brent Millar was selected as "Graduate Tutorial Leader of the Year". He will be awarded a prize of $150 as well as receive a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Brent!

 


Year-End Expenses - Entertainment and Travel - Workshop - Reminder

Year-end for the budget year 2008-2009 is April 30, 2009. Faculty with outstanding entertainment and travel expenses for workshop visitors should forward all receipts to Karin as soon as possible.

Internal Research Grants 2008-2009 - Reminder

All internal research operating grants (excluding startup research grants and SSHRCC/NSERC funded grants) close on:  April 30, 2009 (end of the 2008-2009 operating year). Accounts that are overspent must be reimbursed by cash (or cheque made payable to:  The University of Western Ontario) and deposited back into the account no later than:  Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Current balances of your accounts are available from Karin.

Applications for Fall/Winter Limited Duties Appointments - Deadline

The deadline for applications for Fall 2009 and Winter 2010 Limited Duties Appointments is May 15, 2009.

Laurier Finance 5th Annual Finance Conference 2009

The Laurier Finance area of the Wilfrid Laurier School of Business and Economics, with support from the Bank of Canada, will host a one-day conference on the Global Financial Crisis, Friday, May 15, 2009, 9:00 am – 4:45 pm at the Schlegel Centre, Room SBE1220, Wilfrid Laurier School of Business & Economics. Leading scholars in the field will present their current research on issues related to the financial crisis.

Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics - Economics Conference

The Perimeter Institute will host a conference May 1-4, 2009 on The Economic Crisis and its Implications for the Science of Economics. The conference will begin with a day of talks on Friday, May 1, 2009, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm  by leading experts on the status of economic and financial theory in light of the current situation. Three days of private discussions and workshops will follow.
