Hellmuth Prize for Achievement in Research - Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to John Whalley on being named as one of this year's recipients of the prestigious Hellmuth Prize for Achievement in Research. The Hellmuth Prize is named in honour of Bishop Isaac Hellmuth, founder of Western and awarded for outstanding achievements in research.

Faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students are invited to attend the Hellmuth Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in Conron Hall. Please rsvp by April 13, 2009.

Spring Convocation - Volunteers Needed

Social Science convocation dates are Wednesday, June 10 at 10 am (4-year and Honors degrees) and Thursday, June 11 at 10:00 am (3-year and BMOS degrees).

Volunteers are required for the following positions:

  • Hooders - Should be members of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, as well as members of the graduating Faculty. They may be full-time or part-time faculty members.
  • Assistant Marshalls - May be full-time or part-time faculty members.
  • Orators - May be full-time or part-time faculty members. Orators should be reasonably well known to the members of the graduating class and have a clear, strong, confident speaking voice that will be understood by members of the audience.
  • Ushers - May be members of either faculty or staff.

Volunteers should let Jeremy know as soon as possible what s/he is volunteering to do.

Teaching Support Centre

The Teaching Support Centre and the Instructional Technology Resource Centre invite participants to the Summer Teaching with Technology Institute, May 25-27, 2009, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Instructional Computing Lab, Room 4230, Support Services Building. This three-day Institute will be of interest to those interested in learning more about integrating technology in their instruction and those currently developing or teaching online courses using WebCT OWL. Registration is restricted to full and part-time faculty members. Enrolment is limited to 18, so please register early.

Tenth Trento Summer School - CEEL Program in Adaptive Economic Dynamics

The CEEL program in Adaptive Economic Dynamics will offer the Tenth Trento Summer School: Intensive Course in Networks and Innovation from July 13 - 24, 2009 at the Centro Congressi Panorama, Trento, Italy. The Trento Summer Schools are intended for advanced graduate students and post-doctoral scholars. The deadline for applications is April 24, 2009.
