Birth Announcement



Congratulations
to Jeremy and Rona Chambers on the birth of their son Thomas Andrew Wolf Chambers. Thomas arrived on Wednesday, May 27th at 6:50 am. He weighed in at 8 lbs 3.6oz and measured 48 cm. Everyone is doing fine.

2009 Department Golf Outing

If you haven’t already e-mailed Leslie Kostal, please contact Karin Feulgen if you are interested in joining the Economics Department Golf Outing to be arranged on a late afternoon -- either July 2nd or 3rd, or the week of July 6th-10th. A set time will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

University of Trento (Italy) - International Workshop

The Department of Economics and the School of International Studies of the University of Trento, in collaboration with the International Development and Economics Centre, announce an upcoming international workshop entitled The Global Economy after the Crisis: Macroeconomic and Geopolitical Implicatons at Castello del Buonconsiglio, Trento (Italy), June 25-27, 2009. The registration deadline is June 15, 2009.

Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) - Upcoming Conferences

The Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) is a partnership between the students and faculty of Harvard University, that aims to promote understanding of the economic, political, social, and cultural issues facing the Asia-Pacific region within the Harvard and international communities.

HPAIR 2009 Academic Conference, is a 4-day academic program with six panel workshops, moderated by Harvard graduate students and conducted concurrently throughout the conference. The theme Evolving Asia: Pathways in the Global Era seeks to capture the current condition of Asia in a broad sense as well as in regards to specific issues. The conference will take place August 14-17, 2009 at the Shilla Seoul and Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2009 and the deadline for regular registration is June 15, 2009.

HPAIR 2009 Business Conference is an annual event in which hundreds of international undergraduate and MBA students and young professionals worldwide come together to interact and learn about dynamic areas of Asian business from the most prominent industry leaders. The theme Braving New Frontiers: Tomorrow's Ventures Today seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis of the current economic trends in Asia and create a forum for discussion of new developments in the region. The conference will take place August 6-9, 2009 at Mori Tower, Tokyo, Japan. The application deadline is June 1, 2009 and the regular registration deadline is June 15, 2009.
