Professor of the Year Award

Based on the nominations received from students who are enrolled in any Economics module, including Honors Specialization, Honors Specialization in Global Economics, Honors Specialization in Economics, Politics, & Philosophy, Economics Major, Financial Economics Major, Specialization, or Minor, the Department of Economics is pleased to announce that Des McKeon is the 2009-10 Professor of the Year. Congratulations Des!

Graduate Awards

Martijn van Hasselt was nominated by the Graduate Students as "Graduate Professor of the Year". He will be presented with a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Martijn!

 

Ke Xian Au Yong was selected as "Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year". She will be awarded a prize of $200 as well as receive a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Ke Xian!
 


Mark Sheeley and James Partridge were selected as "Tutorial Leaders of the Year". They will each be awarded a prize of $150 as well as receive a commemorative plaque. Congratulations Mark and James!

 

Year-End Expenses - Entertainment and Travel - Workshop

Year-end for the budget year 2009-2010 is April 30, 2010. Faculty with outstanding entertainment and travel expenses for workshop visitors should forward all receipts to Karin as soon as possible.

Internal Research Grants 2009-2010

All internal research operating grants (excluding startup research grants and SSHRCC/NSERC funded grants) close on April 30, 2010 (end of the 2009-2010 operating year). Accounts that are overspent must be reimbursed by cash (or cheque made payable to: The University of Western Ontario) and deposited back into the account no later than Monday, April 26, 2010. Current balances of your accounts are available from Karin.

Applications for Fall/Winter Limited Duties Appointments - Deadline

The deadline for applications for Fall 2010 and Winter 2011 Limited Duties Appointments is May 28, 2010.

Douglas D. Purvis Memorial Prize - Deadline Extension

Nominations are requested for the 17th annual award to honour the memory of the late Douglas D. Purvis. An award of $10,000 is to be presented for a work of excellence relating to Canadian economic policy and published in 2009. The award is open to all forms of written media in which material relevant to Canadian economic policy appears. The deadline for nominations has been extended to April 26, 2010.

World Bank Group - Free Access to Data

The World Bank Group now provides free, open, and easy access to its comprehensive set of data on living standards around the globe. World Development Indicators, Global Development Finance, Africa Development Indicators, and Global Economic Monitor are available at data.worldbank.org.
