Teaching Support Centre - Teaching Squares Program

A new program introduced by the Teaching Support Centre, the Teaching Squares Program is intended to provide faculty an opportunity to gain insight into their teaching through reciprocal classroom observation and self-reflection. An organizational meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 2nd, 1:30-2:30 pm in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 120 Weldon Library. This meeting is mandatory for all participants. Registration is limited so please register online no later than February 18, 2011.

4th Annual Western Green Awards

Physical Plant & Capital Planning Services seeks nominations for the Fourth Annual Western Green Awards. The purpose of the award is to help raise awareness of sustainability at The University of Western Ontario through the acknowledgement of Western community members who have made positive contributions. The deadline for nominations is February 25, 2011.

Western Centre for Research on Migration & Ethnic Relations - Call for Posters

The Western Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Relations and the Canada-U.S. Institute will host the first inter-disciplinary conference of the Western Migration Conference Series, Taking Stock of a Turbulent Decade and Looking Ahead: Immigration to North America 2000-2010, at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre, April 28-30, 2011. The deadline for submission of posters is February 28, 2011.

Founder's Day

Western will celebrate Founder's Day on March 7th by remembering the contributions of our Western's founders as well as celebrating our students, staff, faculty and alumni and their accomplishments. For information on how to get involved visit the Founder's Day website.

Community Service Learning (CSL) Award - Call for Applications

Awarded by Community Service Learning @ Western in The Student Success Centre, the aim of the Community Service Learning (CSL) Award is to support faculty in creating opportunities for students to connect academic course content with community service that contributes to student learning, and local and international community development. Two awards, up to $2000 each, will be awarded in 2011. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2011.

Canadian Economics Association (CEA) Annual Meeting - Call for Papers - Deadline Reminder

 The deadline for submitting papers is February 18, 2011 for the upcoming 45th Annual Meeting of the CEA to be held at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, June 2-5, 2011.

CIGI and INET Spring 2011 Grant Program

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) are now accepting research proposals for INET’s Spring 2011 Grant Program. Awards range from $25,000 to $250,000. Grants will be awarded to individuals or teams affiliated with academic institutions, think tanks and other centres of vital research worldwide. The deadline for submission of proposals is March 5, 2011.
