Birth Announcement

Its a girlCongratulations to Karen Kopecky and Scott Newman on the birth of their daughter Abigail Eliza Newman. Abigail arrived on May 21st weighing 7lb 3oz. Everyone is doing fine.


International Faculty Fridays - Final Friday and Feedback Forum

Sponsored by the Office of Faculty Relations and the Teaching Support Centre, the goal of International Faculty Fridays is to bring together faculty with international interests and international experience in an informal, social setting to network, share ideas and build community. Registration is not required, just drop in between 3:00-4:00 today, Friday, May 27, 2011 at the "conference room" at the Grad Club. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome. Canadian Public Economics Group (CPEG) - Call for Papers

Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo will host the Canadian Public Economics Group (CPEG) 2011 Conference on November 4-5, 2011 at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. Papers in all aspects of public economics and political economy, and employing all research methodologies, are welcome. Papers authored by graduate students are especially encouraged. The deadline for submission of papers or two-page abstracts is June 30, 2011.

The Center for International Studies and Research - Summer School

The Center for International Studies and Research at the University of Montreal (CERIUM) will offer the summer school China, Superpower! July 4-9, 2011 and is available for graduate students and undergraduate students (under certain conditions). A dozen experts will present an overview of the rapidly-changing Chinese reality through the lens of everyday life (environmental crisis, economic growth, wealth gap, legal dynamics) and from a political angle. The course is given entirely in English.
