News and Announcements

Statutory Holiday - Labour Day

The University will be closed on Monday, September 5, 2011 for Labour Day.

Department Office Hours

The Department of Economics will return to regular hours as of Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Office hours will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Department Meeting

The first Department Meeting for the Academic Year 2011-2012 will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 4161. All faculty and staff are invited to attend. Please mark this date on your calendar.

Social Science Notices

After Hours Access to SSC: The card access at the front of SSC (facing Stevenson Hall) will be disabled starting September 1. PPD is installing a new proximity card reader and we are not sure how long this will take. You can still use card access from the parking lot (facing Western Road).

The doors are unlocked from 7:00am – 11:00pm except Sunday 1:00pm – 11:00pm.

Canadian Economics Employment Exchange (CEEE)

The Canadian Economics Employment Exchange will take place December 2-3, 2011 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto. The purpose of the CEEE is to facilitate the search of Canadian PhD candidates who are seeking employment and of the Canadian organizations who may be interested in hiring these candidates.

Allied Social Science Association (ASSA) Annual Meeting

The 2012 Allied Social Science Association (ASSA) Annual Meeting has been scheduled for January 6-8, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois. The headquarters hotel is the Hyatt Regency-Chicago. Registration and hotel bookings will open Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group 25th Annual Meeting - Registration Now Open

Hosted by the Department of Economics at the University of British Columbia, the Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group 25th Annual Meeting will be held November 4-5, 2011 at the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, BC. Early registration and hotel reservations close on October 4, 2011.

RCEA International Workshop - Deadline Extension

The Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis (RCEA) will hold an international workshop on The Economics and Management of Leisure, Travel and Tourism in Rimini, Italy on November 28-29, 2011. The deadline for submission of one-page abstracts has been extended to September 20, 2011.
