Summer Teaching 2012 - Application Deadline February 10, 2012

The Chair's Office is now accepting applications for summer teaching.

Conversation with Paul Jenkins

Paul Jenkins will give an informal talk entitled Reflections on Europe: Is There a Way Forward? on Wednesday, January 25th at 3:30 pm in Room 4161 SSC. This talk is open to all graduate students.

Fire Drill

A fire drill for the Faculty of Social Science will occur on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. Staff evacuation is required. February fire drill schedule.

Faculty Mentor Program 2011-12

The fifth session in the Faculty Mentor Program series, International Research and Collaboration, will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012, 1:30-3:30 pm, in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 121, The D.B. Weldon Library. Register on-line.

Teaching Squares Program - Organizational Meeting Winter 2012

The Teaching Squares Program is intended to provide faculty with an opportunity to gain insight into their teaching through reciprocal classroom observation and self-reflection. An organizational meeting will take place on Friday, February 3, 1:30-2:30 pm in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 121 Weldon Library. This meeting is mandatory for all participants. Registration is limited and will close on January 27, 2012.

Fellowship in Teaching Innovation - Call for 2012 Applications

The purpose of the Fellowship in Teaching Innovation is to encourage full-time faculty members to pursue teaching innovations at Western. Teaching innovation projects may take many forms, such as initiatives involving the novel incorporation of educational technology into classroom settings or developing new directions for large group learning. The deadline for submission of applications for this $10,000 award is March 1, 2012.

Alumni Awards of Merit 2012 - Call for Nominations

Nominate an outstanding Western alumna or alumnus for a prestigious Alumni Award of Merit. Western's Alumni Association offers this annual awards program to recognize alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their professions or communities. The awards will be presented during Homecoming weekend. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 15, 2012.

CPS Graduate Research Development Conference - Call for Papers

Co-organized with the Population Change and Lifecourse Strategic Knowledge Cluster (PCLC), the Canadian Population Society (CPS) announces the 2012 CPS Graduate Research Development Conference that will take place on May 29, 2012 at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Waterloo, Ontario. The aim of this conference is to provides graduate students with the opportunity to showcase and develop their research related to lifecourse and population change in a workshop format. The deadline for submission of abstracts is February 15, 2012.
