Birth Announcement

It's a boy

 

Congratulations to Shintaro and Mayumi Yamaguchi on the birth of their son, Taichi, on October 14, 2012.

 

Koats for Kids - Winter Clothing Drive

Western Parking Services is accepting donations for Koats for Kids. The Boys & Girls Club winter clothing drive is seeking new or used children's coats along with good condition hats, mittens, gloves, boots and snow pants of any size. Donations can be brought to the reception area in the parking office, Support Services Building, Room 4150 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. until November 5, 2012.

Distinguished University Professorship Award - Call for Nominations

The Distinguished University Professorship program is Western's highest recognition for a faculty member. This award is presented in honour of sustaining excellence in teaching, research and service during an outstanding scholarly career at Western. The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2013.

Alan Blizzard Award - Call for Nominations

The Alan Blizzard Award was developed in 1999 by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) to stimulate and reward collaboration in teaching, and to encourage and disseminate the scholarship of teaching. The award is given to collaborative projects that increase the effectiveness of student learning and is open to groups of two or more individuals, at least one of whom must be currently teaching at a Canadian university, regardless of discipline or level of appointment. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 15, 2013.

University of Waterloo - Upcoming Lecture

The 2012 Hagey Lecture series at the University of Waterloo will host a public lecture by Professor Paul Collier from Oxford University, Will Africa's Resource Scramble Lead to Development or Disaster?, on Thursday, November 22, 2012, at 8:00 p.m., in the Humanities Theatre, Hagey Hall, University of Waterloo. Admission is free.
