Good Friday and Easter Monday

The Department of Economics will be closed on Friday, April 6, 2012. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, April 9, 2012.

Bank of Montreal Professorship

The Department of Economics congratulates Jim MacGee, who has been named the next holder of the Bank of Montreal Professorship, for the period January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015. This Professorship was created through a generous gift to the University from the Bank of Montreal, and is rotated every five years between Economics and the Richard Ivey School of Business.

International Faculty Forum

Sponsored by the Office of Faculty Relations and the Teaching Support Centre, the goal of the International Faculty Forum is to provide an opportunity for academics across campus to network with colleagues outside of their discipline, to share experiences and to learn from the experiences of others. Internationalization at Western - What Does this Initiative Mean? is the theme of the next forum to be held on Thursday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the conference room of Western's Grad Club. Registration is not required.

6th Annual Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations - Call for Papers

Submissions are invited for the 6th Annual Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations, to be held at the Universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg, Germany, February 7-9, 2013. The conference brings together economists, political scientists and other scholars to address political-economy issues related to international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Union, and other international organizations. Both empirical and theoretical papers will be considered. The submission deadline is September 30, 2012.
