Summer Hours

The Department of Economics will be on summer hours as of Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Office hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Applications for Fall/Winter Limited Duties Appointments - Deadline

The deadline for applications for the Fall/Winter period September 1, 2012 to April 30, 2013 is May 25, 2012.

Promotion and Tenure Review - Notice of Solicitation

The Promotion and Tenure Committee will conduct a review of promotion to rank of Professor for Professor Timothy G. Conley and Professor Charles Z. Zheng. Anyone wishing to make a written submission can do so until the Promotion and Tenure files close on Friday, September 14, 2012.

Copies of the vitae and publications for Professors Conley and Zheng will be available shortly in the Main Office to all faculty members and may be borrowed from Sharon Phillips, Jennifer Hope or Debra Merrifield.

Western Summer Institute for Longitudinal Data Analysis - Registration Deadline

Western will offer the Western Summer School in Longitudinal Data Analysis, consisting of four courses that are relevant to a range of researchers in the social, health, business and physical worlds who are doing research that involves understanding change over time, July 8-20, 2012. The deadline for registration is April 30, 2012.

European Summer Institute 2012

Prague's Centre for Public Policy announces the forthcoming European Summer Institute 2012 (ESI 2012) on the Future of Europe: Lobbying in Brussels that will take place June 30 - July 7, 2012 in Prague, Czech Republic. This seven-day academic program is designed to bring together 30 undergraduate and graduate students of various nationalities and academic backgrounds to deepen their knowledge of the current EU politics through exchange of ideas with academics, policy practitioners and fellow students from different cultural environments. The early bird application deadline is April 30, 2012 and the final deadline is May 15, 2012.

Sustainability Conference 2013 - Call for Papers

The Ninth International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic and Social Sustainability will be held January 23-25, 2013 at the International Conference Center Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan. The aim of this multidisciplinary conference is to develop a holistic view of sustainability in which environmental, cultural and economic issues are inseparably interlinked. The deadline for submission of papers is May 24, 2012.
