Departmental Meeting - Reminder

The Fall Departmental Meeting will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 4161 SSC. All faculty and staff are invited to attend.

Economics Fall Party - Reminder

The Economics Fall Party will take place on Thursday, September 20th at the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate on Windermere Road, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There is no admission nor coverage charge for attending this event. Beverages are complementary.

Dinner will again be catered by Betty Heydon of Blackfriar’s. The cost of dinner is outlined below and must be paid in advance. Please note that if you are a new faculty member or a new graduate student, there is no cost to you for the food. Simply follow the RSVP instructions below, so we can report to the caterer the number of guests to be served.

• Post-Doctoral Fellows/Visiting Doctoral Students ~ $0/person

Dean's Office Annual Gathering - Invitation

All Social Science faculty and staff are invited to join the Dean in welcoming new staff and faculty for the faculty's annual start of a new academic year gathering on Thursday, September 20, 2012, 3:00-5:00 p.m., in the Faculty Lounge, Room 3036 SSC. Refreshments and appetizers will be available.

Fall Fire Drill

A fire drill for the Faculty of Social Science will occur on Thursday, October 11, 2012 between 8:30-3:30 p.m. Staff evacuation is required.

Faculty Mentor Program 2012-2013 - Workshop

The Faculty Mentor Program will sponsor a workshop, Preparing Research Grant Proposals: CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, on Friday, September 28, 2012, 1:30-3:30 p.m., in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 121, Weldon Library. This program is intended for faculty. Registration is restricted to full and part-time faculty members.

Teaching Support Centre - Supervision Conversations

Supervision Conversations is an informal monthly brown-bag lunch series, hosted by the Teaching Support Centre, of monthly discussions on the challenge of supervising graduate students and exploring opportunities for mentoring young scholars. The series begins September 17th, 12:00-1:00 p.m., in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 122 Weldon Library. Please register online.

First Annual Toronto Austrian Scholars Conference - Call for Papers

The Ludwig von Mises Institute of Canada will launch the First Annual Toronto Austrian Scholars Conference on November 9-10, 2012 at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus. The deadline for abstract submission is September 28, 2012.
