Professor Emeritus Edward Saraydar (1925-2012)

The Celebration of Ed Saraydar’s Life will take place on Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Library of the Sir Adam Beck Condos, 250 Sydenham St., London. Please RSVP via email by January 25th, if you plan to attend.

The flag will be lowered at Western at 2:00 p.m. on February 2nd.

Summer Teaching 2013 - Application Deadline February 8, 2013

The Chair's Office is now accepting applications for summer teaching.

Winter Conference on Teaching - Invitation to Attend

The Teaching Support Centre will host a Winter Conference on Teaching on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on January 26, 2013, Room 258 Weldon Library. All graduate students are welcome to attend, whether they currently have a teaching assistantship or not.

Fellowship in Teaching Innovation - Call for 2013 Applications

The purpose of the Fellowship in Teaching Innovation is to encourage faculty members to pursue teaching innovations at Western. Projects may take many forms, such as initiatives involving the novel incorporation of educational technology into classroom settings or developing new directions for large group learning. The deadline for submission of applications for this $10,000 award is March 1, 2013.

Board of Governors and Senate - 2013 Nominations for Membership

Elections for membership on the Board of Governors and Senate will take place in February 2013.

Nominations for membership on the Board of Governors in the graduate and undergraduate student constituencies and on Senate in the faculty, administrative staff, graduate student and undergraduate student (academic) constituencies will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

CESifo Venice Summer Institute 2013 - Call for Papers

CESifo will host its fourteenth Venice Summer Institute at the Venice International University, San Servolo, Italy, on July 22 - 27, 2013. The Institute brings together international economists working on economic policy topics for workshops, panel meetings and discussions. The deadline for submission of papers is April 5, 2013.

W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research - 2013 Early Career Research Grant Program

The 2013 Early Career Research Grants are intended to provide resources for junior faculty (untenured and within six years of having earned a PhD) to carry out policy-related research on labour market issues. The W.E. Upjohn Institute invites proposals on all issues related to labor markets and public workforce policy. The submission deadline is February 1, 2013.

Research Notices

Please submit a hard copy (pdf copy by email) of all research grant applications (including contracts), internal and external, to Karin for review and subsequent Chair approval/signature prior to electronically submitting your applications.

In addition, completion and electronic submission of a Proposal via ROLA must be filled out be all applicants to obtain institutional approvals for their research grant/contract applications. Please see Karin if  you need assistance.
