Summer Teaching 2013 - Application Deadline February 8, 2013

The Chair's Office is accepting applications for summer teaching.

VoIP Telephone System Upgrade

ITS will be upgrading the VoIP Telephone System on Sunday, February 17, 2013 beginning at 3:00 am. There will be a 5 to 10 minute period when your phone will not work between 8:15 and 9:30 am.

Professional Expense Reimbursement (PER) – Deadline March 25, 2013

The 2012 Professional Development Expense Reimbursement (PER) form is now available. The submission deadline for 2012 is March 31, 2013 (receipts for the 2012 allocation year may be dated up to March 31, 2013). If you have any questions, please contact Karin.

Please submit your PER form and original receipts (can be returned to you) to Karin by Monday, March 25th.

Indigenous Health and Well-being Initiative Speaker Series

The Indigenous Health and Well-being Initiative Speaker Series will present Dr. Eric Guimond, Acting Director, Strategic Research and Analysis Directorate, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, on February 14, 2013 at 12:30-1:30 pm in room SSC 9420.

Prior to the talk, Dr. Guimond will meet with graduate students to discuss life in the public sector, specifically focusing on securing policy jobs in the federal government, from 11:00 - 12:00 in SSC 9420. Please bring a lunch.

Annual Western Green Awards

Facilities Management seeks nominations for the Annual Western Green Awards. The purpose of the award is to help raise awareness of sustainability through the acknowledgement of Western community members who have made positive contributions. The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2013.

Doug Purvis Memorial Prize - Call for Nominations

Nominations are requested for the 20th annual award of the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize. An award of $10,000 will be presented for a work of excellence relating to Canadian economic policy and published in 2012. The award is open to all forms of written media in which material relevant to Canadian economic policy appears. The deadline for nominations is March 8, 2013.

2013 EEA-ESEM Joint Meeting - Call for Papers

The 28th Annual Congress of the European Economic Association (EEA) and the 67th European Meeting of the Econometric Society (ESEM) will take place at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, August 26-30, 2013. Economists and professionals working in related fields are invited to submit theoretical and applied papers in all areas of economics for presentation. The submission deadline is February 15, 2013.

ATINER 8th Annual International Symposium - Call for Papers

The Economics Research Unit of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) will hold the 8th Annual International Symposium on Economic Theory, Policy and Applications in Athens, Greece on July 22-25, 2013. Papers from all areas of economics are welcome. The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 11, 2013.

Association for Public Economic Theory (APET) 14th International Meeting - Call for Papers

The Association for Public Economic Theory will hold their 14th International Meeting at Católica-Lisbon, Portugal, from July 5-7, 2013. Papers in all aspects of public economics and related areas are invited. The submission deadline is March 15, 2013.

2013 Canadian Association for American Studies Conference - Call for Papers

Sponsored by the Canadian Association for American Studies, the 2013 CAAS Conference, Total Money Makeover: Culture and the Economization of Everything, will be held at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario on October 24-27, 2013. Papers on the topic of culture and economics are invited as well as topics relevant to the interdisciplinary study of American culture, history, and society. The submission deadline is March 15, 2013.

Minnesota Workshop in Macroeconomic Theory - Call for Papers

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the University of Minnesota and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, the Minnesota Workshop in Macroeconomic Theory is held annually at the University of Minnesota in late July/early August. The 2013 conference will run from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, August 2, 2013. Papers in a variety of areas are welcomed. The submission deadline April 30, 2013.

Business & Economics Society International Conferences - Conference Call

The Business & Economics Society International Conferences will be held:

  • July 6-9, 2013 at the Novotel Hotel, Monte Carlo, Monaco. Submission deadline March 15, 2013.
  • January 7-10, 2014 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (venue forthcoming). Submission deadline September 30, 2013.

These conferences welcome academics (business/economics professors and administrators), as well as corporation / government executives and economists.

NBER Trans-Atlantic Public Economic Seminar (TAPES) - Call for Papers

The National Bureau of Economic Research jointly with the New Economic School will sponsor the next Trans-Atlantic Public Economics Seminar (TAPES), Personal Income Taxation and Household Behavior, on June 16-18, 2014 in Moscow, Russia. Emphasis will be on empirically oriented research, but applied theoretical research is also welcome. Preference will be given to papers by younger authors. The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2013.

European Summer School in Prague

The EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy will hold their 11th European Summer School, United States of Europe - Federalization of Europe as a Response to EU Crisis? on July 13-25, 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic. The application deadline is May 31, 2013.

Please submit a hard copy (pdf copy by email) of all research grant applications (including contracts), internal and external, to Karin for review and subsequent Chair approval/signature prior to electronically submitting your applications.

In addition, completion and electronic submission of a Proposal via ROLA must be filled out be all applicants to obtain institutional approvals for their research grant/contract applications. Please see Karin if  you need assistance.
