Research Grants - Agency Financial Reporting Deadline March
31, 2013
March 31st is the fiscal year end for all federally and
provincially funded programs (NSERC, SSHRC, CRC). Please ensure that
all charges for the period April 1, 2012 - March 31, 2013 (travel
expenses/claims, invoices, etc.) are submitted no later than
4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013.
Professional Expense Reimbursement (PER) – Deadline March
25, 2013
The
2012 Professional Development Expense Reimbursement (PER) form
is now available. The submission deadline for 2012 is March 31, 2013
(receipts for the 2012 allocation year may be dated up to March 31,
2013). If you have any questions, please contact Karin.
Please submit your PER form and original receipts (can be returned
to you) to Karin by Monday, March 25th.
Economics Teaching Workshop - Save the Date
Bethany White, Teaching Fellow and member of the Department of
Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, will lead the next Economics
Teaching Workshop, Making Math Matter - The Challenge of Teaching
Math-Based Courses to Non-Math Majors, on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
in Room 4161 SSC. Faculty from math and
math-based subjects will participate in the workshop. Economics
faculty Andrés Carvajal, Peter Streufert and Greg Pavlov will be on
a panel to discuss their teaching strategies in this regard.

The Mike McCracken Award for Economic Statistics - Call for
Nominations
The Mike McCracken
Award for Economic Statistics,
established in 2010,
recognizes both theoretical and applied contributions that are
important to the development or use of official economic statistics.
The Award is endorsed by the Canadian Economics Association (CEA) and will be presented at the annual meeting
of the CEA. The deadline for nominations is April
5, 2013.
Michigan State University - Econometrics Summer Tutorial
Econometrics has long been a strength of the Economics Department
at Michigan State University.
ÊSTIMATE
-- Early Summer Tutorial In Modern Applied Tools of Econometrics,
is an intensive weekend workshop taught by world class
econometricians
that gives empirical practitioners, academic researchers,
industry/government researchers/analysts, and graduate students,
access to econometrics training usually reserved for students formally
enrolled in PhD programs at MSU.
ÊSTIMATE
will take place May 31 - June 2, 2013 at Michigan State University.
The goal of the workshop is to broaden and improve the practice of
econometric methods throughout empirical research and data analysis in
academics, industry and government.
Quantitative Behavioural Finance Conference - Invitation to
Attend
Co-hosted by Waterloo Research Institute in Insurance, Securities &
Quantitative Finance (WatRISQ) at the University of Waterloo and
Sino-Canada Institute of Financial Engineering and Risk Management
(SCIFR) at Nanjing University, the
Quantitative Behavioural Finance Conference will be held at the
University of Waterloo on Friday, April 5, 2013. Internationally
recognized researchers in Quantitative Behavioural Finance will
present the latest developments and future challenges in quantitative
behavioural finance and how they impact the decision-making processes
of market participants, asset prices and investments.

now accepting applications for EURAC's Federal Scholar 2014.
Academics, post-docs and practitioners worldwide can apply for the
