Scholarships and Awards

 

The Department of Economics has several awards and scholarships available.

The Dr. W. Glenn Campbell and Dr. Mark K. Inman Scholarships in Economics

  • Awarded to the top student going into the fourth year of the Honors Economics program or Honors Specialization, $2,000
  • Awarded to the top student going into the third year of the Honors Economics program or Honors Specialization, $2,000
  • Awarded to the top student going into the third year of the General Economics program or Specialization in Economics, $500
  • Awarded to the top student who completes a degree in Economics and goes into the fourth year of the Honors Economics program or Honors Specialization in Economics, $500

The Hon. Edward Blake Scholarships

  • Awarded to a student completing the second year of an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics, $225
  • Awarded to a student completing the third year of an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics, $225

The Andrew Grant Scholarships

  • Awarded to a student completing the second year of an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics, $800
  • Awarded to a student completing the third year of an Honors Bachelor degree Economics, $800

The Walter J. Koenig Scholarships

  • Awarded to two students entering the third year of an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics, $800 and $900

The Dr. Mark K. Inman Scholarship

  • Awarded to a student in any year of an Economics program based on academic achievement (minimum 80% average), $1,000

The David J. Stenason Scholarship

  • Awarded to a full-time student from Quebec in any year of an Honors Specialization, Major, or Specialization in Economics based on academic achievement (minimum 80% average), minimum $2,000

The Grant and Peggy Reuber Merit Scholarship

  • Awarded to a student in an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics. The recipient is selected on the basis of financial need and on his/her potential as a scholar and their promise for distinguished achievement after graduation as reflected by demonstrated leadership and other personal qualities, up to $2,500

The Godsoe Family UWO Scholarships

  • Awarded to undergraduate students in Year 2 of an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics or History on the basis of academic achievement (minimum 80% average) and demonstrated financial need. The scholarship will continue as long as the recipients meet the criteria for the award and a maintain a full-time course load. If the recipient fails to retain the scholarship after Year 2, another student will be selected from the same year who meets the criteria. Three valued at $1,000 each
  • There is also the Godsoe Family Bursary: Awarded annually to a student registered in the Faculty of Social Science or the Faculty of Arts who has strong academic standing and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is taking courses with the Department of Economics, History and Philosophy and who is registered at main campus, however is taking one course at Huron University College. Value: 1 at $3,000

The S.F. Glass Gold Medal

  • Awarded to the top graduating student in an Honors Bachelor degree in Economics

The UWO Medal

  • Awarded to the top graduating student in each of the combined Honors Program with Economics or Honors Bachelor degree with a Double Major (one of which is in Economics)

The Mark K. Iman Senior Essay Prize

  • Awarded to the student(s) with the best essay in Economics 400E, book prize

The Benjamin Higgins' Prize in Development Economics

  • Awarded to the top student in Economics 324F/G or 325F/G provided that student has at least an 80%, book prize
