Reception to Recognize Student Achievement

The Economics Department will honor its top students by holding a Reception to Recognize Student Achievement on Monday, November 3, 2008, 4:00 p.m, Room 3036 SSC. Faculty are encouraged to attend.

Fan Shutdown

There will be a shutdown of the supply air fan 104 in SSC on November 5th from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. This is required to allow ITS to install cable above the ceiling in TA 6333, 6319 & area.

The Western Award of Excellence - Call for Nominations

Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate outstanding staff colleagues for the 2009 Western Award of Excellence program. The award program is a campus-wide initiative to recognize the exceptional performance of staff members who contribute to providing Canada’s best student experience; promote leadership and personal growth; and foster the values of integrity, respect and commitment to service. The deadline for nominations for individuals and teams is November 21, 2008.

Faculty Mentor Program 2008/09 - Workshop/Information Session

The Faculty Mentor Program will sponsor the next workshop/information session on "Getting Ready for Tenure and Promotion Under the Collective Agreement" on Friday, November 21, 2008, 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 122, The D.B. Weldon Library. This session and the one to follow on Thursday, December 4, 2008, will be significant for all new members of faculty and for those who are on tenure track. Please register online.

Alan Blizzard Award - Call for Applications

The Alan Blizzard Award was developed in 1999 by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) to stimulate and reward collaboration in teaching, and to encourage and disseminate the scholarship of teaching. The award is given to collaborative projects that increase the effectiveness of student learning and is open to groups of two or more individuals, at least one of whom must be currently teaching at a Canadian university, regardless of discipline or level of appointment. The deadline for applications is Friday, January 16, 2009.
