Political Economy Research Group (PERG) Conference

The Political Economy Research Group (PERG) will host a conference entitled "Can Social Science Predict Accurately? The Case of Elections" on Monday, November 7, 1:30-4:30 pm, Room 4161 SSC. All are welcome.

Teaching Support Centre - Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)

The Teaching Support Centre will offer an intensive three-day Instructional Skills Workshop on December 14, 15 & 16, 2011, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm each day, in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 122, Weldon Library. This program is intended for faculty (both new and experienced) and you will be required to attend the full three days. Enrollment is limited, please register online.

Western Libraries Open Access

Western Libraries will host two sessions of the Open Up Your Published Research workshop. Session 1 take place on Monday, October 31, 2011, 2:00-3:00 pm, Kellogg Room, Taylor Library and Session 2 on Thursday, November 17, 2011, 2:00-3:00 pm, Electronic Instruction Room, Weldon Library. NVivo Workshops at UWO

Mr. Bengt Edhlund, an NVivo expert, will offer a Beginners NVivo 9 workshop  for researchers who are new to the software on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Faculty of Education Building, Althouse College. Additional workshops will be offered on November 16 and 17th for more advanced users of NVivo 9.

University of Waterloo - Sessional Lecturer Required

The Department of Economics at the University of Waterloo is looking for a Sessional Lecturer to teach Econ 344, Marketing: Principles of Marketing and Consumer Economics - Economic principles for marketing, exchange theory and consumer analysis, product or service introductions, public and private policies for advertising, differentiation and quality assurance. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

John G. Diefenbaker Award 2012 - Call for Nominations

The Canada Council for the Arts announces the opening of nominations for the John G. Diefenbaker Award. This award allows a Canadian university to invite a distinguished German scholar to come to Canada for a period of up to one year to work on a specific research project and to participate in research related activities. The nomination deadline is December 1, 2011.

Summer 2012 Study of the United States Institutes for Scholars -  Call for Nominations

Each year, the United States Department of State funds six-week intensive Institutes for Academic Scholars and are looking for candidates that are at a midpoint in their career and committed to their profession. The Institutes will take place at various universities throughout the U.S. over the course of six weeks beginning in June 2012. The U.S. Consulate Toronto will act as liaison for The Department of State. The deadline for nominations to be received by the U.S. Consulate Toronto is December 30, 2011.

Alan Blizzard Award - Call for Applications

The Alan Blizzard Award was developed in 1999 by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) to stimulate and reward collaboration in teaching, and to encourage and disseminate the scholarship of teaching. The award is given to collaborative projects that increase the effectiveness of student learning and is open to groups of two or more individuals, at least one of whom must be currently teaching at a Canadian university, regardless of discipline or level of appointment. The deadline for applications is Friday, January 13, 2012.
