Teaching Support Centre

The Teaching Support Centre will offer an intensive three-day Instructional Skills Workshop for Faculty (ISW) - Teaching to Learn, December 11-13, 2012, in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 122, The D.B. Weldon Library. Participants are required to attend the full three days. This program is open to all full and part-time faculty. Enrollment is limited, please register online.

Community Service Learning @ Western

Community Service Learning @ Western, in the Student Success Centre, invites interested faculty members to take part in a Faculty Professional Development Series in Community Service Learning (CSL), November 9, November 23 and December 7, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, UCC 210. Participants of the program will learn about the benefits of Community Service Learning, how to run a CSL course and the services offered by CSL @ Western. Please register by November 2, 2012.

United Way

In addition to the Early Bird Prizes, all first time payroll pledges (giving under $1000) and all new leadership pledges (giving at $1000), will have their name entered into a draw for six chances to win lunch for two at Michael’s Garden. To qualify pledges must be in by November 30. Prizes generously donated by Michael’s Garden.

Beach Volleyball in November will take place Saturday, November 10th at Spikes, 120 Weston St. Registration is at 9:30 am and start time 10:00 am. All proceeds go to the United Way. C.D. Howe Institute Business Cycle Council

Message from the C.D. Howe Institute: The recently launched C.D. Howe Institute Business Cycle Council will act as an arbiter of business cycle dates in Canada. Of particular interest to faculty and students is that the main quarterly and monthly economic indicators used to establish the historical chronology of business cycles are available on the website.

NORFACE Migration Interdisciplinary Conference - Call for Papers

Organized jointly by the NORFACE Research Programme on Migration and the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM), an interdisciplinary conference on migration research, Migration: Global Development, New Frontiers will be held at University College London, April 10-13, 2013. The submission deadline is December 16, 2012.

Third Annual Canadian Agricultural Policy Conference

The Third Annual Canadian Agricultural Policy Conference, Growing Canada's Agricultural Economy: The Role of Trade, will take place January 23-25, 2013 at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. The conference is jointly hosted by the Canadian Agricultural Economic Society and the five 'Enabling Research for Competitive Agriculture' (ERCA) Policy Research Networks. The registration deadline is January 7, 2013.
