Service Disruption - Network Connectivity

There will be a 10 to 15 minute disruption of all network and phone connectivity in the Social Science building on Sunday, December 2, 2012, from 6:00 a.m. - 11:59 a.m.

First Annual Killam Prize Symposium on CBC Radio One

John Whalley, 2012 Killiam Prize Winner, will take part in the 2012 Killam Symposium from Rideau Hall hosted by the CBC Radio One show IDEAS on November 30th at 9:00 p.m. The five 2012 Killam Prize Winners will be brought together with the Governor General to discuss the idea of discovery and answer questions such as "Is it an art or a science?", "Can anyone do it?", "And who owns what's discovered?" as well as personal stories about their own research.

Economics Teaching Workshop - Reminder

Nanda Dimitrov from the Teaching Support Centre will lead a second Economics Teaching Workshop on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Room 4161 SSC. This workshop is a follow-up to the workshop held in the spring of 2011, but can also be taken as a stand-alone workshop. Everyone who is interested in improving and upgrading their teaching methods should attend this half-day workshop. Graduate students who have never taught their own course but are interested in summer teaching in the Department will be required to attend. Those looking to improve their teaching evaluation scores may also find this workshop helpful. There is still room to sign-up. Please email Sharon if you would like to attend by Monday, December 3, 2012.

NIPE 10th Summer School

The NIPE (Economic Policies Research Unit) announces its 10th Summer School on Discrete Choice Models for Cross Section and Panel Data, that will take place at the University of Minho, School of Economics and Management, Braga, Portugal, from June 26-28, 2013. The course will cover topics in econometric analysis of discrete data that are useful to graduate students and applied researchers. The deadline for applications is April 4, 2013.
