Year-End Expenses - Entertainment and Travel - Workshop
Year-end for the budget year 2011-2012 is April
30,
2012. Faculty with outstanding entertainment and travel
expenses for workshop visitors should forward all receipts to Karin
as soon as possible.
Spring Convocation - Volunteers Needed
Social Science convocation dates are Tuesday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m.
(School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, BA Honors, BSc Honors,
Diplomas and Certificates (excluding Accounting)), Wednesday, June
13 at 10:00 a.m. (BMOS and Diploma in Accounting) and at 3:00 p.m. (3
yr and 4 yr excluding Honors and BMOS).
Volunteers are required for the following positions:
- Hooders: should be members of the Faculty of
Graduate Studies, as well as members of the graduating faculty
and may be full-time or part-time faculty members
- Assistant Marshalls: may be full-time or part-time faculty
members
- Orators: may be full-time or part-time faculty
members and should have a clear,
strong, confident speaking voice that will be understood by
members of the audience
- Ushers: may be members of either faculty or staff
Hooders, Assistant Marshals, and Orators must be available for
duties commencing at 8:45 a.m. or 1:45 p.m. on the day of their duty in the Thames Hall gym. Ushers must be available at 8:00 a.m.
or at 1:00 p.m. on the day of their duty in the front foyer
of Alumni Hall.
Volunteers should let Lisa Lyons know as soon as
possible what s/he is volunteering
to do.
Teaching Support Centre
The Teaching Support Centre will hold a
Research on Teaching Symposium on Thursday, April 19, 2012,
1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Teaching Support Centre, Room 122 The D.B.
Weldon Library. The symposium will showcase Research on Teaching
projects being done here at Western and will also provide the
opportunity for faculty members, librarians and archivists, and
graduate students who wish to learn more about Research on Teaching
to meet and interact with colleagues who have completed Research on
Teaching projects. Please

Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Association Awards -
Call for Nominations
Each year OCUFA recognizes outstanding teachers and academic
librarians in Ontario universities through awards.
OCUFA Teaching
and Academic Librarianship Awards
recognize all levels of instruction including graduate, undergraduate,
continuing education, faculty development as well as proficiency in
teaching that may extend beyond the classroom, the laboratory or the
faculty member's office. Activities such as course design, curriculum
development, organization of teaching programs, and other significant
forms of leadership are often important contributions to the
instructional process. Those who excel in any of these are eligible
for the OCUFA Teaching Awards. The deadline for receipt of nominations
is May 21, 2012.
CIRET Conference - Call for Papers
Hosted by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), the
Centre for International Research on Economic Tendency Surveys
(CIRET) Conference, Economic
Tendency Surveys and Economic Policy,
will take place September 5-8, 2012 in Vienna, Austria. The
Conference will concentrate on topics related to economic surveys. The
deadline for submission of papers is April 15,
2012.
Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group 26th Annual Meeting

Hosted by CIREQ and the Department of Economics at the
University of Montreal, the
26th Annual
Meeting of the Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group will be held at the
University of Montreal, Montreal, Quebec, November 2-3,
2012. The CMSG invites papers in all areas of macroeconomics.
The submission deadline is May 18, 2012.
