Good Friday and Easter Monday

The Department of Economics will be closed on Friday, April 6, 2012. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, April 9, 2012.

Killam Prize 2012

The Canada Council of Canada awarded John Whalley one of five 2012 Killam Prizes of $100,000 in recognition of outstanding career achievements. This award is among Canada’s most distinguished research awards. Western Economics congratulates John Whalley on this award and is proud of his many accomplishments.

Community Service Learning (CSL) Award - Call for 2012 Applications - Deadline Extension

Awarded by Community Service Learning @ Western in The Student Success Centre, the aim of the Community Service Learning (CSL) Award is to support faculty in creating opportunities for students to connect academic course content with community service that contributes to student learning, and local and international community development. Three awards, up to $2000 each, will be awarded in 2012. The application deadline has been extended to April 13, 2012.

John Rae Prize - Call for Nominations - Deadline Extension

The John Rae Prize, awarded every two years by the Canadian Economics Association, recognizes the best research record in Canada during the previous five years and has a value of $10,000. Nominations are open but are normally made by Chairs of Canadian Economics departments. Nominations may be submitted by email. The nomination deadline has been extended to April 13, 2012.

Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) - Sabbatical/Post-Doctoral at CIGI

CIGI welcomes faculty members from any relevant discipline who are conducting research in one of CIGI’s core program areas (global economy, global security, global development or environment and energy), to spend their sabbatical as a CIGI Visiting Fellow. Successful applicants will receive a stipend, research support and opportunities to participate in the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) and CIGI activities. Applications will be considered throughout the year.
