Professors Emeritus Laidler and Parkin named CEA Fellows

Western Economics Professors Emeritus David Laidler and Michael Parkin have accepted the prestigious title of Fellow of the Canadian Economics Association at the Past Presidents’ Dinner of the Association in Calgary on June 7, 2012.

Created in 2010, the award recognizes achievements and contributions to the most prominent economists who have spent a significant fraction of their careers in Canada. Both Laidler and Parkin joined Western in 1975.

Power Shutdown

Facilities Management will be making repairs in the building and will need to shut the power down on Saturday, June 9th:

7:00 am - 9:00 am 200 block and 300 block from 1st floor to 9th floor
7:00 am - 4:00 pm 4200's, 4084 - 4092, and 4300's

It is suggested that you power off and unplug all electrical equipment, particularly in the affected areas to prevent damage from a power surge when the power is restored.

Conference in Celebration of Thomas J. Courchene - Call for Papers

The School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University announces a conference in honor of Tom Courchene to celebrate his many contributions to Canadian public policy. Thinking Outside the Box: A Conference in Celebration of Thomas J. Courchene will be held October 26-27, 2012, in the Purvis-Hand Room, Dunning Hall, Queen's University. The abstract submission deadline is June 30, 2012.
