The Celebration of Ed Saraydar’s Life will take place on Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Library of the Sir Adam Beck Condos, 250 Sydenham St., London. Please RSVP via email by January 25th, if you plan to attend.

The flag will be lowered at Western at 2:00 p.m. on February 2nd.

Deputy Minister University Champion's Event

From Western to Public Policy: Deputy Minister University Champion's Event will be held at Western on Monday, January 28, 2013. Economics will be hosting the lecture by Ron Parker "Perspectives on High Demand Occupations" at 9:30-10:30 am, Somerville House 3345. All lectures are open to all faculty and students (room size may be limited).

Water Economics, Policy and Governance Network (WEPGN) - Call for Research Projects/Proposals

The Water Economics, Policy and Governance Network (WEPGN) at Brock University is a SSHRC-supported Network whose overall objective is to carry out research that contributes to the vitality and sustainability of the Canadian economy through enhanced management and governance of Canada's waters. WEPGN, in collaboration with the one of its partners, the Canadian Water Network (CWN), is currently soliciting Proposals for Research Projects. WEPGN will consider proposals for research projects with budgets up to a maximum of $25,000 annually. Project duration may be between 12 to 24 months. The proposal submission deadline is March 1, 2013.

69th Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance

The 69th Annual Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) will be held in Taormina, Sicily, Italy on August 22-25, 2013. The theme of the Congress is The Role of the State in Growth and Development, but papers on any topic within the filed of public economics and related disciplines will be considered. The deadline for submission of papers is February 16, 2013.

The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Summer Programs offers an excellent opportunity for economics students or faculty who may be interested in summer employment as an economics instructor or teaching assistant. CTY offers challenging academic programs for highly talented elementary, middle, and high school students from across the US and around the world.

2013 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition - Call for Research Papers

The Global Development Network (GDN), with support from the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan, promotes superior research through the Global Development Awards and Medals Competition (AMC) 2013. Finalists and winners will be chosen by an award jury and will be given a chance to present their work in development research at the 14th Annual Global Development Conference to be held in Manila, Philippines from June 19-21, 2013. The application deadline is March 11, 2013.


Research Notices

Please submit a hard copy (pdf copy by email) of all research grant applications (including contracts), internal and external, to Karin for review and subsequent Chair approval/signature prior to electronically submitting your applications.

In addition, completion and electronic submission of a Proposal via ROLA must be filled out be all applicants to obtain institutional approvals for their research grant/contract applications. Please see Karin if  you need assistance.
