Phone System Scheduled Maintenance

Western's provider of long distance services will be completing system maintenance on Tuesday, February 16th, 3:00-4:00 am. Long distance service may be unavailable intermittently during this time frame.

Faculty of Law 50th Anniversary Celebration

As part of the Faculty of Law's 50th anniversary celebration, George Akerlof will deliver a lecture (2nd annual Beattie Lecture) on the topic of Identity Economics on March 22, 2010, 5:30-7:00 pm, in Room 38 of the Faculty of Law. All are welcome to attend.

NBER Entrepreneurship Research Boot Camp - Call for Applicants

The NBER Entrepreneurship Working Group will host the 3rd Entrepreneurship Research Boot Camp (ERBC) in Cambridge, MA, July 28-31, 2010. This intensive workshop provides an introduction into the leading research topics in the areas of entrepreneurship economics and entrepreneurial finance. The workshop is sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The application deadline is March 26, 2010.

NBER Entrepreneurship Working Group - Travel Grants for 2010

The NBER Working Group on Entrepreneurship meets twice each year to present and discuss research in the field and are seeking scholars at the graduate and pre-doctoral level who are interested in the growing field of entrepreneurship research. The Travel Grants (up to a total of $1,000) will pay the travel expenses of successful candidates to attend the two meetings held at the NBER's offices in Cambridge, MA. The summer meeting date is July 27, 2010. The winter meeting date will be announced later. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2010.

NBER Innovation Policy Working Group - Call for Proposals

The Innovation Policy (IPE) Working Group at the National Bureau of Economic Research seeks to foster research by economists and other social scientists on the interactions between public policy and the innovation process. As part of the IPE Program grants are made to PhDs to support research into innovation policy and entrepreneurship. The IPE Group is seeking proposals for 2 grants of $20,000 each and a post-doctoral fellowship of $60,000, for the academic year of 2010-11. The deadline for submission of proposals is April 1, 2010.

RCEA Summer School on Developments in Economic Growth Analysis

Jointly organized by the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis (RCEA) and the Faculty of Economics-Rimini of the University of Bologna, the Summer School on Developments in Economic Growth Analysis: Human Capital and Economic Growth will be held from May 31st - June 13th, 2010 at the Rimini Campus of the University of Bologna, Italy. The deadline for applications is April 16, 2010.
