Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group 24th Annual Meeting

Sponsored by the Bank of Canada, the Canadian Economics Association, the CIBC Centre for Human Capital and Productivity, UWO Faculty of Social Science and Research Western, the Department of Economics will host the Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group 24th Annual Meeting, November 5-6, 2010 at the Delta London Armouries.

Upcoming Ivey Seminar

Nick Bloom, Stanford Department of Economics, will discuss his research on Does Management Matter? Evidence from India at Ivey on Friday, November 5th, 1:00 p.m., in Room 1N05. This may be of interest to many economics faculty.

Distinguished University Professorship Award - Call for Nominations

The Distinguished University Professorship program is Western's highest recognition for a faculty member. This award is presented in honour of sustaining excellence in teaching, research and service during an outstanding scholarly career at Western. The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2011.

John G. Diefenbaker Award 2011 - Call for Nominations

The Canada Council for the Arts announces the opening of nominations for the John G. Diefenbaker Award. This award allows a Canadian university to invite a distinguished German scholar to come to Canada for a period of up to one year to work on a specific research project and to participate in research related activities. The nomination deadline is December 1, 2010.

Alan Blizzard Award - Call for Applications

The Alan Blizzard Award was developed in 1999 by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) to stimulate and reward collaboration in teaching, and to encourage and disseminate the scholarship of teaching. The award is given to collaborative projects that increase the effectiveness of student learning and is open to groups of two or more individuals, at least one of whom must be currently teaching at a Canadian university, regardless of discipline or level of appointment. The deadline for applications is Friday, January 14, 2011.
