Employers

The Western Master of Financial Economics (MFE) is an intensive 16-month professional program. Our MFE students are motivated, intellectually curious and possess solid research, analytical and technical skills. Required classes include Financial Econometrics, Financial Economics, Corporate Finance, Introduction to Quantitative Finance, and Securities Regulation.  Commonly taken elective classes include Portfolio Management and Risk Management.

Many of our classes require class presentations and group projects to help Western MFE students develop strong communication and teamwork skills. In addition to classwork, the MFE Professional Development Series covers a range of topics, from ethics to professional behaviour to career preparation. In addition, students are trained in Bloomberg and other data sources, as well as computer programs such as R, SAS, and Excel.
