The Centre and its Mandate

The CIBC Centre in Human Capital and Productivity in the Department of Economics at Western University is funded by a generous donation from the CIBC. It has a broad mandate to study issues related to human capital and productivity and is directed by the CIBC Chair in Human Capital (Lance Lochner). The Chair, along with Centre Fellows and Affiliates, conduct research on and provide policy advice on issues related to human capital. This research is generally funded directly or indirectly by the CIBC Centre. To facilitate the dissemination of research, the CIBC Centre publishes a working paper series and sponsors conferences, seminars, and workshops on human capital and productivity. The Centre also publishes and widely distributes policy briefs to distill and disseminate key policy-related research findings to a broad audience of policymakers, journalists, and other researchers.
