Western’s Economics faculty members are an international group of scholars whose expertise covers both conventional areas of economics as well as many outside of the typical realm of economics. We have researchers specializing in the core areas of microeconomic, macroeconomics and econometrics in addition to international trade, development economics, labour economics, public finance and financial economics. Beyond these areas we have researchers who have specialized in the economics of crime, marriage and the family, education, personal bankruptcy, terrorism and the Chinese economy. Our faculty members have received numerous awards recognizing the excellence of their research and are committed to bringing that research alive for their students through in class lectures and out of class projects. The economists in our department are always available to speak with current and potential students about the many vocational and occupational benefits arising from the study of economics, and regularly engage with the media, public policy makers and community leaders about our ongoing academic initiatives.
