Economic Policy Research Institute
The Institute and its Research Themes
The Economic Policy Research Institute (EPRI) was founded in 2001 and is jointly sponsored by the Department of Economics and the Department of Political Science at Western. EPRI fosters research on long-term economic policy issues through its support for policy-oriented research in both departments. EPRI’s activities include a seminar series, a working paper series and conferences. The Institute also helps facilitate knowledge mobilization of the policy-related research at Western via outreach to policy-makers and the public.
The Institute Director is Jim Davies and the Co-Directors are Jim MacGee, John Whalley and Robert Young.
The Institute has seven key research themes, each of which has its own coordinator:
- Auctions and Mechanism Design (Maria Goltsman, Greg Pavlov, Charles Zeng, )
- China in the Global Economy (John Whalley)
- Development Economics (Terry Sicular)
- Financial Markets, Risk and Money (Jim MacGee)
- Firm Productivity (Salvador Navarro)
- Human Capital and Labor Markets (Lance Lochner)
- Market Design (Charles Zheng)
- Political Economy (Robert Young)
